About

Hi, I’m Morris – and here’s how my kitchen story began.

I still remember the sound of my grandmother’s old wooden spoon clinking against her cast iron pot. She moved around her tiny kitchen like a conductor leading an orchestra ; slow-cooked stews, buttery biscuits, warm pies cooling on the windowsill. I was just a boy then, probably more in the way than helping, but those early afternoons in her kitchen lit a spark in me. That’s where it all started.

Growing up, food wasn’t just about eating ; it was how we came together. My parents loved taking us out on weekend picnics. My mom had a knack for making even the simplest sandwiches feel like magic. She’d pack homemade fried chicken, fresh-cut fruit, little mason jars of lemonade, and cookies still warm from the oven. We’d spread a blanket under the trees and laugh until the sun went down. I didn’t know it back then, but those memories would shape the way I see food today: as comfort, connection, and a kind of quiet joy.

I was raised in a small town where neighbors still knock on your door with a warm pie “just because,” and people swap recipes at the grocery store like they’re trading secrets. It’s a place where food is slower, stories are longer, and flavors carry a little piece of someone’s soul.

These days, I live a busier life ; married to my incredible wife, who still says my grilled cheese is the best she’s ever had (even if she’s just being sweet), and proud dad to our four-year-old daughter, Lily. She’s a little tornado of energy and curiosity ; always asking to “help” in the kitchen, which usually means sneaking ingredients and covering the counter in flour. But I love every second of it. Watching her discover food the way I did is a feeling I can’t quite put into words.

That’s what Cookmoo is all about. This blog is my way of sharing a piece of that warmth with you ; not just recipes, but stories, memories, and a reminder that there’s always something worth savoring. Whether you’re here for dinner ideas, a new favorite cookie, or just a quiet moment over coffee and a recipe scroll, I’m glad you stopped by.

Thanks for being part of my journey.
